49 Best Chips of All Time Ranked Worst to Best
This post is all about the best chips of all time!!
Today we are going to get a little *spicy* with this ranking of the best chips of all time.
When ranking these chips from worst to best, I really tried to consider how everyone has different taste buds so I included chips in different category areas (spicy, regular, healthy, etc.).
I even threw some curveballs!
If you are also a spicy and/or savory chip lover, then you will really like this list (and possibly find some new favorites)!!

Ranking the Best Chips of All Time
49. SunChips Original Multigrain
To start off this list, I was a little worried of including these as #49 in the ranking.
I personally like more savory chips so if you like bready, grainier chips, then you might even rank this chip near the top 10.
48. Lays Baked Potato Chips
Baked chips are great for you if you like a thinner, crispy chip.
I personally feel I am missing a little bit of ~oomph~ as others that are ranking a little higher.
47. Takis Guacamole Flavor
As a Takis lover, I KNEW I had to talk about these guacamole chips.
These guacamole tortilla chips are sort of on-brand for Takis because of the Latin touch, but it is one of the only chips that they have that are not spicy and they aren’t half-bad if you like flavor, over spiciness.
46. Fritos Chili Cheese
Chili Cheese Fritos are a CLASSIC.
If you want more than just regular Fritos, then these chips have a higher flavor profile and might be best for you.
45. Miss Vickie’s Sea Salt & Vinegar
Sea Salt & Vinegar kettle chips hit DIFFERENT.
I personally think that Miss Vickie’s chips are underrated in general, but if you don’t mind a vinegary touch, then these would be nice to try.
44. Lay’s Salt & Vinegar
Lay’s Salt & Vinegar Potato Chips are one of those chips that can sneak up on you.
If you are like me and like less crunch than kettle chips, then these are a good alternative than #45.
43. Takis Waves
While the Takis Guacamole Tortilla Chips are less spicy than I am used to with their brand, these Takis Waves are a bit surprising even with spiciness.
I will say these are missing the tortilla chip flavoring which I truly love about the original Takis, but it is a nice change of pace if you want to try something different.
42. Lay’s Potato Chips
Classic Lay’s Potato Chips have a nostalgic feeling and cannot be replaced.
As much as there are other flavors in the Lay’s family, there is just a home-y feeling of seeing these in the pantry that cannot be replaced.
41. Goldfish Flavor Blasted Xtra Cheddar Crackers
I know you might be thinking, TATY, THESE ARE CRACKERS, and honey, I just had to put them on this list ok. Let me explain.
Flavor Blasted Goldfish were the sht at my middle school AND THEY WERE IN THE CHIPS VENDING MACHINE THERE. The smokey flavor of these goldfish is unmatched.
40. Smartfood White Cheddar
White cheddar is a guilty pleasure of mine in the chips aisle and it is rare when you can go wrong with it.
While popcorn gets stuck in my braces so I can’t currently have them, I will return to this white cheddar popcorn when this journey is over!!
39. Pringles BBQ
I think you can see a pattern here of savory chips ranking higher.
These BBQ Pringles are smokey, and delicious, period.
38. Pringles Cheddar Cheese
Cheddar Cheese Pringles are rated higher than the BBQ Pringles on this list, but they are both equal in my eyes (and heart).
A cheesy favorite.
37. Trader Joe’s Rolled Corn Tortilla Chips
These Trader Joe’s Rolled Corn Tortilla Chips were the rage a few years back!!
I appreciate that these chips taste more like ones you can bake yourself at home and that the chile and limon flavors give more of a “dinner or meal” sort of vibe.
36. Doritos Dinamita Chile Limon Tortilla Chips
If you are someone that likes spicy and lemony taste, you would really like Doritos Chile Limon tortilla chips.
You can feel the lime more in these than other chips.
35. Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Popcorn
I accidentally tried the Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Popcorn because I thought it was another chip.. And these were pleasantly surprising.
On this list of the best chips of all time, these are tiny bit spicy if you aren’t too into that sort of thing.
34. Fritos The Original
The original Fritos are a classic so you can’t really go wrong with these.
32. Garden Veggie Veggie Straws
I just love Veggie Straws!!
If you like a salty chip with a slight-veggie taste (but in a nice way lol), then I think you can confirm these taste pretty good.
31. Cheetos Puffs Cheese Flavored
I know that a lot of people have a lot to say about the texture of puffs in general, but I personally really like the puff texture.
I like how these Cheetos Puffs are softer than the regular Cheetos and melt in your mouth!
30. Doritos Cool Ranch
I’m curious to know what you think if you have tried this one since I’ve heard different thoughts about it!
If you are someone that likes ranch and the ranch “tang”, then you would really like the Doritos Cool Ranch.
29. Pop Chips Sour Cream & Onion
If you have not tried Pop Chips, DO IT!!
I am absolutely blown away with the quality and taste of these Sour Cream & Onion Chips.
28. Pop Chips Crazy Hot
As I’m writing this, I am eating these Crazy Hot Pop Chips so I can taste that they are really good.
The part that I love the most about these chips is that they’re not too spicy but are spicy enough.
27. Ruffles Original Potato Chips
I know people have strong views on Ruffles because they are a classic.
I personally think that Ruffles taste really good but taste BETTER with ranch.
26. Sabritones Chile & Lime Flavored Puffed Wheat Snacks
I grew up with these Sabritones Chile & Lime chips which are basically like Latin chips.
Unlike other chips, I enjoy that these chips melt in your mouth and you can suck on them to absorb the chile/lime flavor more.
25. Pringles Sour Cream & Onion
I personally have had not had Sour Cream & Onion Pringles in a really long time.
But I will always remember how good they were taste wise and how you can shape them to a duck beak lol.
24. Pirate’s Booty Snack Puffs, Aged White Cheddar
If you like white cheddar, you know how good these are.
They are just really yummy to eat and mine are always packed with cheddar seasoning.
23. Garden Veggie Straws, Screamin’ Hot
Screamin’ Hot Veggie Straws snuck on me one time at the store.
Ever since I got them on a whim, I just get them because I like the little “kick” it gives to the original veggie straws.
22. Cheetos
Regular Cheetos are a classic.
It’s either you like having a lot of cheese or you like the spicy version, so it’s really up to your own preference.
21. Funyuns
I’m not a big onion person in real life but when it comes to chips, I am.
Onion flavored chips like Funyuns are just a different experience.
20. Sabritas Adobadas Potato Chips
Adobadas are a spicy, tomato chip that I don’t think a lot of people have tried.
They are from Mexico and I think they are underrated here in the United States.
19. Doritos Nacho Cheese
There isn’t much to say about Doritos Nacho Cheese.
It’s like either you like cheese or you don’t lol. I love how they are present in Taco Bell’s Dorito Loco Nachos Tacos as well!!
18. Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Flavor Shots
These Flavor Shots are THE BEST.
The feeling of nostalgia, spiciness, and tiny bits of fun.. unmatched.
17. Lay’s Barbecue Flavor Potato Chips
Lay’s barbecue chips are always at parties for a REASON.
It is in the top 20 because it is a pretty flavory, savory chip that we can all vibe with!!
16. Nong Shim Shrimp Crackers – Hot & Spicy
I know, another cracker. But I mean, if you can find it in the chip aisle, IT IS A CHIP.
Shrimp flavored crackers are as close as you can get to food, than food.. but that tastes delicioso.
15. Cheetos Cheddar Jalapeño
I don’t hear many people talk about these Cheddar Jalapeño Cheetos, and I have no idea why.
These chips are not that spicy and I think anyone who can tolerate a little spice, can like these!
14. Doritos Spicy Nacho
I only had the Doritos Spicy Nacho Chips once in my life, and I preferred them more than the regular ones because of the the spiciness.
If you don’t really like spicy, then this might not be a favorite, but if you do, it might be even a step up than the reliable nacho cheese!!
13. Lay’s Sour Cream & Onion Flavor Potato Chips
Sour Cream & Onion Chips are good.. and Lay’s potato chips taste good by themselves..
So put it all together, it makes for a *chefs kiss* great chip.
12. Lays Potato Chips Limon
You probably think I have going OVER and OVER about spicy chips with lime, but how about chips with ONLY LIME?!
Nothing beats these in the chip world. Prove me wrong.
11. Cheetos Puffs Flamin’ Hot
Another puff favorite, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Puffs!!
These are dangerously good and I have found myself accidentally finishing them watching TV.
10. Kettle Jalapeño Potato Chips
Kettle chips once again.. but this time Jalapeño flavored.
Another solid option.
9. Ruffles Sour Cream & Onion
Sour cream & onion is a really popular chip option, I have come to realized after talking about 30 chips.
Original Ruffles + Sour Cream & Onion = what’s not to love bro.
8. Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Limon
Now, you KNOW I gotta pop the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos with LIME on this list.
A classic, a legend, a spicy chip favorite.. these are so much better than Flamin’ Hot Cheetos without lime.. I mean you have to agree right.
7. Chester’s Cheese Puff Corn
Everyone talks about cheddar chips, and Cheese Puffcorn should be on EVERY LIST.
They are soft, fluffy, CHEESY.. what more do you want in these best chips of all time?
6. Lays Potato Chips Chile Limon
Chile Limon Lay’s are amazing and I when I see them, I at least consider getting them lol.
Spicy, citrus-y, finger-licking worthy.
5. Miss Vickie’s Jalapeño Potato Chips
These jalapeño chips are always jam-packed with jalapeño flavor.
I am pretty picky when it comes to kettle chips, but these are different story. Perfect for my inner-Latina spiciness.
4. Irvins Salted Egg Potato Chips
Out of left field, we have the underrated Irvins Salted Egg Potato Chips!!
These chips are perfect for the egg-lover who loves savory foods. It is amazing!!
3. Takis
After some thinking, I put Takis as #3 (even though I was debating #1) because if you are someone that doesn’t really like pure spice, they’re going to be a lot to take in.
Most of the time I LOOOOOVE eating them though.
2. Chester’s Flamin’ Hot Cheese Puffcorn
My go-to guilty pleasure snack is the Flamin’ Hot Puffcorn Chips.
These puffs are fluffy the write amount of spice to enjoy a snack.. kind of dangerously perfect for eating a whole bag!
1. Chester’s Fries
For number one FOR THE BEST CHIPS OF ALL TIME.. it is no surprise that it’s Chester’s fries!!
Chester’s fries are just amazing.. what with their medium spice and the perfect crunch.
Who doesn’t like chips in fries form?!
